Why BookKeeper exists

So Malaysian SME owners no longer have receipts and regulations chasing them. This page explains clearly who runs the service and who does your books.

Quick answer

BookKeeper is a bookkeeping service platform for Malaysian SMEs, operated by O2O Alliance Sdn. Bhd., with monthly bookkeeping from RM280/month. Clients' bookkeeping is done by partner professional bookkeeping and accounting teams, and tax filing is handled by partner licensed tax agents. We handle enquiries, communication and follow-up, so your accounts are delivered on the dates agreed in the service agreement and your reports are easy to understand.

After closing the shop, that bag of documents in the car

You close the shop at 10pm, park the car, and only then notice the plastic bag on the passenger seat. Inside are this month's supplier invoices and receipts. They have been riding around with you for two weeks.

Your phone lights up. A friend has forwarded a message: "New e-Invoice rules again. Does your company need to issue them?" You read it twice and still aren't sure whether it applies to you.

This is very common. Malaysian SME owners know their business, their customers and their products. But bookkeeping and tax filing have always been a weight on their minds.

Why has bookkeeping become harder in recent years?

In the past, many owners ignored the books all year and handed a box of documents to the accounting firm at year end. Doing that today carries more and more risk.

MyInvois e-Invoice is being rolled out in phases. The final phase started on 1 January 2026, with a grace period until 31 December 2027. From September 2026, the exemption threshold was raised again, from annual turnover of RM1 million to RM3 million. SSM's audit exemption thresholds are also being raised in phases from 2025 to 2027. The rules keep changing, and to keep up, owners need their books to be up to date every month.

For details, see the e-Invoice RM3 million exemption explained and whether your company can be audit exempt.

What problem does BookKeeper want to solve?

BookKeeper wants to make finding a bookkeeping service simple and transparent. Prices are published on the website, the scope of service is clearly explained, and we talk to you in the language you are comfortable with.

You don't need to know accounting terms. You just send your documents every month, leave the rest to professionals, and we tell you how your company is doing in words you understand.

Who runs BookKeeper, and who does your books?

We want to be very clear about this.

BookKeeper (bookkeeper.com.my) is operated by O2O Alliance Sdn. Bhd. We run the website, handle enquiries, understand your needs and pass your case to a suitable team.

The actual bookkeeping, payroll and filing work is done by partner professional bookkeeping and accounting teams. Before we quote, we tell you which team will be responsible and their relevant qualifications. You can check this before you sign.

Our standards for every case

Whether you are on the Starter plan or a Custom plan, these points are the same.

Confidential data

Your bank statements, invoices and employee salary data are only used to provide the service. They go only to the team handling your case and are not used for anything else. See the privacy policy.

A monthly deadline

Once all documents are in, the month's accounts and reports are delivered on the date agreed in the service agreement. For items due by the 15th of the following month, such as EPF, SOCSO, EIS and PCB, we remind you in advance.

Reports in plain language

A report is more than a page of numbers. We tell you in plain words how much you made this month, which expenses went up, and whether you have enough cash.

English, Bahasa Melayu or Chinese

Talk to us in the language you are most comfortable with. If your staff or partners prefer English or Bahasa Melayu, that's fine too.

Prices made clear up front

Starting prices are published on the pricing page. The formal quotation states what is and isn't included, and any work outside the quoted scope is explained before it starts.

Ask if you're unsure

No bookkeeping question is "too simple". Ask, and we will explain until it makes sense to you.

The bookkeeper on this website

Who is the bookkeeper you see on this site?

She is BookKeeper's illustrated brand character. She stands for the team that records your transactions, reconciles your bank and reminds you of deadlines every month. She is not a real accountant, and we do not give her made-up credentials.

Your books are kept by our partner bookkeeping and accounting team, and tax filing is handled by partner licensed tax agents. Their real details and qualifications will be published on this page once the partnerships are confirmed.

How are our articles written?

The accounting guides on this website are written for Malaysian SME owners. We want you to be able to make a decision after reading, so we hold the content to these standards.

How we write

We explain with scenarios and examples, and every example is labelled as an "Example scenario", not a real client's story. We don't publish numbers without a basis, and we don't exaggerate service results.

How we check facts

For regulatory content, we only cite official sources, including LHDN (hasil.gov.my), SSM (ssm.com.my), KWSP (kwsp.gov.my), PERKESO (perkeso.gov.my) and MySST (mysst.customs.gov.my). Every regulatory section includes a source link so you can check it yourself. Where something is uncertain, we state "subject to the latest official announcement".

Review and updates

Every article shows its publication date and last updated date. When regulations change, we go back, revise the related articles and update the date.

Note

Article content is general information and does not constitute accounting, tax or legal advice. Please have an accountant confirm your situation based on your company's details. See the disclaimer.

What do clients say?

We only publish genuine testimonials with the client's consent. Until we have collected them, this section stays empty.
